BUILDINGS OF DISASTER REDUX

Fukushima Power Plant, March 11, 2011

The new miniature commemorates the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan, the site of a major nuclear accident that began at March 11, 2011. The disaster was triggered by an earthquake and a 45-feet tsunami wave, which caused an electrical grid failure. The inability to adequately cool the reactors resulted in explosions in three reactor buildings, leading to the release of radioactive materials into the environment.

The new miniature building measures 6” by 2.5” by 2.5” high. Every object is individually cast in metallic resin, hand-finished, and consecutively numbered. No more than 200 pieces will be made.
